When you least expect it…
Recently, an ex sent me a message through Facebook. We did not seriously date, but, off and on, it lasted about 18 months or so. Things ended cleanly. No fights, no drama. He had found someone he wanted to seriously date and I accepted that. And we were no longer Facebook friends.
His first message to me was that he had lost his phone and all the numbers in it and wanted to reconnect. I did not respond to his message. The second one came a few weeks later, saying he had moved about 4 hours away but wanted to check in. The third message came about another week later. He wished me a happy birthday and hoped all was well in my life. He had sent me a friend request. My curiosity got the best of me and I accepted the friend request but never replied to any of his messages. He no longer has a girlfriend.
The most recent message came this past weekend. He asked me if I had received his other messages and if I was interested in keeping in touch. Now I feel as if I have to reply to him. My obvious attempts of not responding to him have not worked. I need to tell him that I am not interested in keeping in touch. Or I could just change my relationship status and maybe he’d see that and get the hint.
