Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb have the best job. They only work for one hour a day where they get to eat and drink and talk only about themselves. Where do I sign up?

Big Changes
A lot has happened this past week. I will try to make this post brief. The Boyfriend has been in the Army Reserves for the past year, and as part of that, he has to attend a 12-week Officers’ Training in San Antonio. The Army has changed the date of this training three times in the past month but now the most recent date is sticking. He leaves in 3 weeks. If that wasn’t enough, his...

The Big Easy
This week I went to New Orleans for a work conference. It was the most enjoyable work travel I’ve had in a long time. We packed in a lot during the evenings we had free. I’ve been to New Orleans two times before: once as a child on a family vacation and once in 2004 for Mardi Gras. I forget how enjoyable this city is. I love the history, the architecure, easy-going lifestyle, the...

The Hunger Games
I finished the first book last night. It was hard to avoid this book even a year ago but now with the movie coming out soon, it’s even harder. I figured I should read it and I am so glad I did. However, I am trying not to let the movie interpretation influence my reading. I know who the actors are portraying the characters, even before I started reading the books, and it’s hard to...

New Orleans!
Tonight I went on a haunted history tour of the French Quarter. It was awesome and so much more. I don’t really believe in ghosts or vampires but the hairs on my neck stood up more than a few times. I will blog more about this later. I had an awesome time in New Orleans this week. One of the few work trips I’ve enjoyed. Tomorrow is the last day here and then back to...
Come back in about 20 minutes. I’ll be more drunk and wanting to talk to...

Conversation Between My 5- and 7- Year Old Nephews
7-year old: I think [my name] and [Boyfriend's name] should get married.
5-year old: Me too. I just love [Boyfriend] so much!
7-year old: I just want to wear a tuxedo in a wedding.

Book Challenge 2012
I decided to challenge myself to read more this year. I hope to read at least 20 books this year. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot for some, but it is for me. I enjoy reading. I was sort of a book worm growing up. But in the last 5 or 6 years, I have hardly read any books. Life just gets in the way and it’s easier for me to watch TV than read a book.
Last year, I started...

The Boyfriend’s sister had her baby this morning. We are heading out to Ohio to see them later today. We had this weekend planned for a while; going to see his parents and have Christmas with them. What good timing this baby has!
I need a vacation...
and a massage…
and a manicure…
and a good home cooked meal…
and a good night’s sleep…

Age Difference
Today is the Boyfriend’s birthday. He is 6 1/2 years younger than me but it doesn’t really bother me. Age differences more than, say four years, used to bother me when I was younger. But now, I look at it more than how old do I feel and do I feel I am in the same place emotionally with someone else? Are we in the same stage of our lives? Do we want the same things? At the...

Music City
I have been traveling to Nashville for the past 4 weeks for work. I have to stay over the weekend but have tonight off. Some coworkers and I have decided to check out the Nashville nightlife. I hope it’s not all country music and honky tonks.

New TV
There are some things I like to splurge on: clothes, vacations, dining out. There are other things that I am more conservative about: cars, shoes, handbags. Another one of those things is TVs. I have a 27” CRT television. With as much TV as I watch, you’d like I’d have a fancy flat panel HD TV. I’ve had this TV since 2001. I have never had any problems with this TV...

Reading Challenge
I have challenged myself to read 20 books in 2012. That might not seem like much to some but it is a lot for me.
So far I have read 2. Does it count for a book I started in 2011 and finished in 2012? If not, then I’ve only read 1.

Work Angst
A coworker emails you asking for help on a project she was assigned, and you offer suggestions and guidance on how she can get it done. She replies by asking you to do the things you just suggested for her project. That is not asking for help. That is asking you to do her work.

Names
I have never heard a woman call her husband by his last name, like she was a player on the same sports team he was on.
- from Mindy Kaling’s book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, about Amy Poehler and Will Arnett
I call the Boyfriend by his last name. That is the only name I have known him by. When I first met him, that’s how he was introduced. That is how my friends were...

Error 32
I’m business traveling again and tonight I decided to check out the hotel’s fitness center. It’s nice enough, but really small. I hopped on a treadmill and about 20 minutes later, it stops. I thought I had accidentally hit the emergency stop. Nope. It won’t restart. Instead it just says “Error 32.” Whatever that means. There is only one other treadmill...

2012 Intentions
It is already the end of the third day of the new year and I haven’t Tumbled at all. Mostly because I don’t have much excitement going on these days. My New Year’s Eve was absolutely fabulous, what I can remember of it at least (awesome party as always, @SaturdayNightGuys). But then the next two days that were supposed to be holidays were spent working. Boooo…. so now...

Lost Wages
I am at the airport waiting to come home from this business travel week. Another gate is boarding for Las Vegas but everytime the announcer calls it out over the PA, it sounds like he’s saying Lost Wages.

I've Changed My Name
I’ve changed my name to Beloved Victory. They are the meaning of my first and middle names. My first names means “Beloved” and my middle name means “Victory for the People.” I thought it was more representative and unique to me. I will still continue to write about the same things in my life. Just thought I should have a new name.

Name Change?
Some of you have mentioned that I should change my Tumblr name because I have been dating someone for a while now. While I am still technically single (I’m still checking the single box for the government), in all sense of the word, I supposed I am not single anymore. And this blog has become more of my thoughts about things other than dating and relationships, so I should probably have a...
My Year In Review
A lot of websites, news programs and magazines recap the year that was during this time of year. Here is my recap of 2011 and the things that made an impact on my life this year:
Family
My younger sister and her husband moving back home after 7 years
My mom fully recovering from her suddent illness
Watching my 3 nephews learn and grow each day. They say and do the funniest things and...

A Merry Weekend
Christmas weekend was wonderful but busy. It was jam-packed with family, food and fun. My nephews loved their presents and were so fun to watch get ready for Santa and then open their presents. I love giving presents to people and was pretty successful with getting good gifts for everyone. I got way more than I should have and the Boyfriend was very good to me! A new watch! A new Kate Spade...

Merry Christmas Eve Eve
I am very much looking forward to this weekend. Not just because it’s Christmas but because I am spending the whole weekend with my family. Yes they drive me crazy sometimes, but only in that way a family can. I am extremely close with my mom and my sisters and I enjoy being with them. Tonight we are all hanging out at mom’s, eating sloppy joes and playing cards.
Christmas Eve...

The next two days
I have two days of work left this week before I start my Long Lonely Winter. I have been working from home all week, which is nice, but it’s still work. Here is what I hope to acheive in the next two days:
Get a massage
Go to lunch with friends
Take naps
Read my book for book club
Catch up on the American Horror Story finale
Workout
Seems like a lot for two days. I hope work...

Really Good Weekend
This weekend was pretty good. Just the right mix of fun and stuff needed to get done. Here is my weekend in bullet form:
Finished Christmas shopping
Wrapped Christmas gifts
SawYoung Adult
Drove around and looked at Christmas lights
Dinner and Love Actually with Saturday Night Guys
Looking forward to this week and the holiday weekend. I can’t believe Christmas is only a week away!

Spoiled!
I have been recording American Horror Story this season but it’s taking me a while to watch them. I am WAY behind having only watched through episode 3 so far. Even though I am behind, I have been careful to not read recaps or spoilers. Then, I read an article with Ryan Murphy’s (AHS creator) reaction to the Golden Globes nominations (AHS and Glee) and the article blurts out a major...

Funny Kids
Over the weekend, my family went to a friend’s birthday party. I was unable to attend as I had a prior engagement the same night. My mother overheard this funny conversation between a family friend and my 7-year-old nephew:
Family Friend: Where’s your aunt at tonight?
7-year-old: They had another party to go to.
FF: Who is she with?
7-YO: Her boyfriend.
FF: Oh okay.
7-YO: I...

When you least expect it...
Recently, an ex sent me a message through Facebook. We did not seriously date, but, off and on, it lasted about 18 months or so. Things ended cleanly. No fights, no drama. He had found someone he wanted to seriously date and I accepted that. And we were no longer Facebook friends.
His first message to me was that he had lost his phone and all the numbers in it and wanted to reconnect. I did...

Facebooking
Facebook is a very interesting place sometimes. When I first got on it a number of years ago, I was posting witty status updates, posting my pictures immediately after they were taken, writing on friends’ walls and searching out those long lost friends.
Now I hardly post anything on Facebook anymore. I look at it on my phone just to see what others are up to. The curiosity factor is...

Awards Season
I love Awards Season. I especially like the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. This is the time of year that Hollywood releases what they believe will be the contenders come Awards Season.
Each year I have intentions of watching the heavy favorites, but in reality, I only see one or two of them. I wait too long and the week before the Oscars I’m...

I miss my friends and family, only seeing them on the weekend

Weekend Thoughts
This past weekend was so much fun. The Boyfriend’s younger sister got married and we went to Ohio for the celebration. Generally I really enjoy going to weddings. I’ve been a bridesmaid in seven weddings in my lifetime. This time was different though. I was going to an important family event for the first time with The Boyfriend. I met his extended family and his family’s...

Rants, Venting, Complaining, Negativity
Call it what you want but we all do it. I complain and vent and rage on a lot. I have noticed that I do it more than often and it is starting to bother me. I don’t feel I am a negative person, or someone who always looks at the down side of things. Generally, I am happy with my life and I surround myself with fun, happy, positive things. But lately, I am finding that I complain about...

Long Weekend & Short Week
This holiday weekend was really wonderful. I spent four busy, full days hanging with the family and the Boyfriend. Thursday truly was a day of thanks as I have a lot to be thankful for this year (getting a job, my sister and brother-in-law moving back to St. Louis, my healthy, sweet nephews, my mom recovering from her very serious and scary illness, and me finding someone special).
I had to...
